A "There but for the Grace of God go I" post.
i type medical reports for a living. some make me laugh, some make me swear, and every now and then, they will make me cry.
A 3-month-old baby hospitalized with seizures, brain bleed, broken ribs, broken leg, and diagnosed with "nonaccidental trauma" will make me cry.
hug your kids and be glad they're healthy. i'm fierce about protecting my kids, but we can't protect them 24/7/365 for life. and this breaks my heart.

Nonaccidental trauma? I just slightly died inside.
Nonaccidental trauma might be something you can protect your child from. Sometimes, sometimes not. Tjese stories, which usually make the news, make me want to hurl, or lock someone up forever.
Those always make me cry and die a little inside. I used to work for one of the critical children's hospitals in the midwest, and got these sorts of reports almost daily. i wanted to move there and hug every one of those kids, but uh, they'd probably freak out.
they make me want to turn vigilante.
Oh gosh. I'm so sorry you had to see that. I'm even sorrier that stuff like that actually happens.
